Every day, brand marketers rely on the power of Social Media to engage directly with their consumers. But, this valuable connection is at risk. With people’s trust in Social Media at only 41 percent globally*, consumers are paying close attention to brands’ online activity, and changing the way they engage back. Social channels have become many users’ chosen means of venting, criticising, and complaining to brands. The widespread use of digital technology and social platforms has brought with it a democratisation of social voice – everyone can now reach anyone, with a few taps on a keyboard or a handheld device. What’s more, an increasingly impatient digital consumer expects a reply within a shorter and shorter amount of time.
